On 10 26, the 2025 Hainan Good Rice Festival, one of the events for China's Farmers' Harvest Festival, was successfully held in Dongfang City.This event, themed "Rice Fragrance from Hainan: Nature's Best Rice," not only showcased the achievements of Hainan's rice industry but also marked a key milestone in the integration of "Hainan Premium Rice" with Zaopo Vinegar products, injecting new momentum into high-quality development of Hainan's characteristic agriculture.
Hainan enjoys a long, warm summer with no winter and abundant sunshine and rainfall. These unique natural conditions have given rise to rice of exceptional quality—fresh, fragrant, and pure.Since the launch of the "Hainan Good Rice" brand in 2019, we have advanced variety improvement, quality enhancement, brand building, and standardized production. To date, seven editions of the "Hainan Good Rice" awards have been held, recognizing 21 gold-award varieties that have passed official review or registration for introduction and are approved for promotion across Hainan.Scaled-up deployment across 8 key producing cities and counties, including Haikou, Danzhou, and Qionghai. Over the past three years, planting area has reached {10,000} mu, bringing high-quality Hainan rice from hidden alleyways to consumers nationwide.
At the event, the "1+N" layout created an immersive experience of rice cultivation charm: On the main stage, the opening ceremony, leadership speeches, and a稻田 fashion show captivated audiences. Representatives from 11 "Hainan Good Rice" trademark license holders took a solemn oath to strictly adhere to the "Hainan Good Rice" group standard. The long-table banquet was a huge hit, featuring specialty dishes centered around Hainan Good Rice and Zaobaocu vinegar arranged along a table stretching dozens of meters—including creative items like rice meat zongzi and rice cakes. These dishes blend traditional farming flavors with modern culinary ingenuity, paired with seafood soup simmered in Zaobaocu vinegar. A single bite delivers the sweet, tangy essence of Hainan's harvest, filled with laughter and joy. In the Golden Ear长廊, physical exhibits and图文 introductions showcased the full industrial chain from field to table. At the Little Farmers Experience Camp, families enjoyed hands-on activities like harvesting rice with sickles and making basket rice, immersing themselves in the fun of agricultural culture.
A highlight of this Rice Festival is the official unveiling of the Hainan Province Rice Association's Vinegar Committee and the launch of the "Hainan Zaopo Cu" logo.This initiative responds to the provincial party committee and government's call to advance the vinegar-by-product industry, aiming to connect the supply chain from premium rice to high-quality vinegar and multiply value by transforming a staple food into a distinctive condiment.The committee will integrate industry resources by engaging manufacturers, planting cooperatives, research institutions, and other full-chain stakeholders. Key priorities include establishing local supply bases for raw materials, participating in the development of industry standards, cultivating leading enterprises, and advancing the vinegar dregs industry from single-product manufacturing to a composite model integrating production, culture, and tourism.At the event, multiple companies signed cooperation agreements in areas such as the development of the zaobaocu industry and authorized product sales promotion. These partnerships aim to help this Hainan specialty reach domestic and international markets, moving toward the goal of achieving over 50 billion yuan in full industrial chain sales revenue by 2030.
The continued growth of "Hainan's Fine Rice" relies on policy support and standards protection.In recent years, the Hainan Provincial Party Committee and Government have integrated the "Hainan Good Rice" brand into key agricultural modernization initiatives. Policies such as the "Three-Year Action Plan for the Development of the 'Hainan Good Rice' Industry" and the "Implementation Rules for Managing Subsidy Funds Related to Agricultural Development in Hainan Province" have been introduced, providing strong support for industry upgrading.The release of the 2025 "Hainan's Best Rice" group standard filled the gap for a unified quality benchmark for premium Hainan rice. Linking this standard to trademark authorization created a binding constraint on brand quality.From a single seed in Nanfan's fertile soil to a regional public brand reaching across China, "Hainan Good Rice" is leveraging the momentum of Hainan Free Trade Port development to innovate and strengthen its foundation.The Hainan Rice Association will continue to serve as a bridge, promoting variety improvement, industry integration, and brand enhancement.
